Data Deletion
Step by step, how to delete your early-access signup, the data from one connected account, or everything.
Last updated
This page is the instructions for getting your data out of athna. Every route below is yours to use without asking permission; the email routes exist for when you can't get into your account, or would rather a person did it. This is also the page Meta, TikTok and Google send their users to, so it covers each of them.
It covers three things, in order: your early-access signup (the website today), the data from one connected account, and your whole account.
Your early-access signup
Your signup is one row: your email, your two optional answers, where you came from, the headline you saw, your browser's user-agent string and the time. Deleting it means all of that goes.
- Reply to the confirmation email you got from hello@athna.ai with the word delete. Or send a new email to hello@athna.ai from the address you signed up with, with the subject Delete my signup.
- We delete the row and reply to say it's done. Usually the same day, always within 30 days.
- You won't hear from us again unless you sign up again.
If you signed up with an address you no longer have, email from any address and tell us the old one; we may ask one question to make sure it's you.
The data from one connected account
Connecting an account gives athna an access token and lets it copy some of that account's details, your profile and the stats on your posts, into your workspace. Disconnecting removes both.
From inside athna, the fastest way:
- Sign in at app.athna.ai.
- Open Settings → Accounts.
- Find the account and click Disconnect.
- Confirm. The access token is deleted at once. Profile details and stats copied from that account are deleted within 30 days, except numbers attached to a post you keep; those stay on the post until you delete the post.
From the other side. You can also remove athna's access from the service itself. The token stops working immediately, and we delete it the next time we try to use it. Disconnect in athna too if you want the copied data gone on the 30-day schedule above.
- Instagram and Facebook (Meta): in Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites, find athna, and remove it. Meta then sends us a deletion request; we delete every piece of data we hold from that account and give Meta a confirmation code and a link to a status page you can check.
- YouTube and Google Drive: go to myaccount.google.com/permissions, find athna, and remove access.
- TikTok: in the TikTok app, Settings and privacy → Security & permissions → Apps and services, find athna, and remove it.
- Dropbox: at dropbox.com/account/connected_apps, find athna, and disconnect.
- Frame.io, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Slack: each has a connected-apps page in its settings; remove athna there.
Footage in Drive, Dropbox or Frame.io is never copied into athna, so there's nothing to delete on our side except the links to it, which go with the disconnect.
Your whole account
Deleting your account deletes every brand workspace you own, everything in them, every connected account's token and data, your billing records (except the invoices we're required to keep; see below), and your login.
- Sign in at app.athna.ai.
- Open Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Read what's about to go. If you want a copy, click Export first; you'll get a download of every workspace you own.
- Type your email to confirm, and click Delete.
- Your account is closed at once. If you own a workspace that other people work in, they lose access at the same time. Tell them first.
If you can't sign in, email hello@athna.ai from the address on your account with the subject Delete my account. We'll confirm it's you and do it for you.
If you're a member or an editor in someone else's workspace, deleting your account removes you from it; the work you did there stays with the creator, without your name on it.
What happens after you click delete
- Live systems: gone at once, or within 30 days at the outside for anything we have to remove by hand.
- Backups: we keep encrypted backups so that a mistake on our side doesn't lose everyone's work. Your data ages out of them within 90 days. Backups are only ever restored to recover from an outage, never to bring back a deleted account.
- Invoices: tax law requires us to keep invoices for seven years. They hold your name, your billing address and what you paid, and nothing about your content.
- Logs: error and access logs that may contain your account ID roll off within 90 days.
- Emails you sent us: stay in our inbox unless you ask us to delete those too.
Confirming it's you
For any request by email, we act only on a request from the address on the account, or after a question only the account holder could answer. That's so no one can delete your workspace by pretending to be you.
